Shelby senior Aeris Stewart opened her 2026 cross country season Friday, August 28, at the Mike Reynolds Time Trial in Cut Bank.
Stewart finished the high school girls' race in 12th place with a time of 23:15.74. The early-season time trial featured runners from across north-central Montana and provided Stewart with her first competitive race of the season.
Stewart enters her senior year after earning All-State honors at the 2025 Class B State Cross Country Championships, where she finished eighth overall. Friday’s race marked the beginning of her final season competing for the Shelby Coyotes.
Shelby has three other runners who will begin competing as soon as they have enough practices to do so. Senior Thomas Knickerbocker, Junior Corin Scarborough, and Sophomore Tel Gray.
Also new to the team this year is Assistant Coach Rebecca Linton. The team looks forward to her steady and constant encouragement and support, and we are excited to have her on board this year.
The Shelby Harriers will compete next at their home meet on Thursday, September 3 at 10 am at the Marias Valley Golf Course and Country Club. Come support your Coyote runners.
