Administration - Elementary Principal
P: (406) 424-8910 ext. 2
It is with great honor and excitement that I introduce myself, Alyssa Finch, as the new Principal of Shelby Elementary School.
My passion for education and supporting the success of all students has been shaped over the past 9 years as an elementary school teacher, educational leader, and adult educator in the Great Falls Public Schools. In each of these roles, I have sought to ensure the success of each student, and the school, by providing the best instructional opportunities and supports possible. Similarly, it is my number one priority at Shelby Public Schools to ensure that every student receives the most well-rounded and engaging education possible.
As the Principal at Shelby Elementary School, I am committed to ensuring that student needs and interests help shape instruction and learning opportunities. Most importantly, an excellent education is not possible without collaboration of students, parents, teachers, and staff.
I grew up in Great Falls, MT, before relocating to Missoula before high school. After graduating from Big Sky, I attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN as a vocal performance and opera major. As I ventured into college, I quickly learned that my heart belonged in a classroom. I completed my undergraduate degree with Montana State University-Northern. After 6 years in the classroom, I completed my Master’s of Education in K-8 Curriculum & Instruction from Montana State University - Bozeman. As my new assignment begins, I am currently enrolled in the K-12 Principal Certification & Licensure Program at The University of Montana.
I just finished my 11th season with the Great Falls Symphony and love every minute of making music with community members from all over North Central Montana. I love to spend time with my family, hunt, hike, fish, and scrapbook. I am a lover of animals and coffee (in no particular order)!
I come to Shelby with my wonderful family; including my fiance and two children. My son, Ethan, is 11 years old and will be going into 6th grade. He is an avid outdoorsman, cello player, artist, sports fan, and Lego connoisseur. My daughter, Adalyn, is 4.5 years old and is a bright and opinionated young lady. She enjoys dance, coloring, painting, playing outside, and singing to music. We are incredibly excited to call Shelby home and look forward to meeting everyone in the community.
2018-2019 is going to be a great school year at a great school! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas that you would like to discuss.
