Elliott Crump
Administration - Superintendent
P: (406) 424-8910 ext. 1
My name is Elliott Crump and I am proud to be the Superintendent of Shelby Public School District.
In introducing myself, I would like to share with you my educational experiences and philosophy. My first professional teaching position took me from Carroll College, MT to the Czech Republic where I taught English for two years. When I returned to the United States I joined the staff at a start-up school in the South Bronx, New York City. My first year was spent teaching ninth, tenth and eleventh grade students and working to create a girls’ basketball program. In the years that followed, I continued to teach and coach while at the same time taking on more administrative duties. I started the 2008 school year supervising all subject areas at the Dr. Mary E. Walker Medical Science Academy (grades 6-8) and the High School for Medical Science. Two years later, I returned to Montana and accepted the Superintendent position in Roberts, where I spent four years.
Throughout my years as an educator, I have developed a philosophy that involves two main principles. First, all students have the ability to learn and it is our responsibility, as educators, to motivate students and provide them with valuable skills and information. Second, public schooling is not the completion of an individual’s education; therefore, our students must have the skills and desire to continue their pursuit of knowledge. It is my goal, to see that our students receive a top quality education with the skills to compete in the ever changing world after they leave us.
