The SHELBY HIGH SCHOOL TEAM participated in the Great Falls Invitational Cross-Country Meet at the Anaconda Hills Golf Course. The team ran the hilly course in wet conditions.
In the small schools/large schools JV girls race there were a total of 170 runners. Leading the Coyotes to the finish line was Kaylee Appley and Carly Parsell placing 101st and 102nd with times of 26:48:80 and 26:48:81 respectively. Covering the 5K course in 31:26 and placing 150th was Hannah Nelson. In 166th place with a time of 35:08 was Jordyn Kruty.
Leading the Coyotes in the small schools/large schools JV boys race was Tucker Tustian placing 37th with a time of 20:27. Crossing the finish line in 79th place with a time of 21:32 was Jarod Anderson. Jonathan Henke covered the 3.1 miles in 22:30 placing 107th. Noah Dean ran to a 125th place with a time of 23:10. Scott Whitson finished in 23:23 placing 140th.
Luke Fretheim crossed the finish line in 162nd place with a time of 24:40. Running in 180th place with a time of 27:49 was Michael Sanchez. Running in his first cross country meet and placing 188th with a time of 32:13 was Joshua Buck. There were a total of 191 runners.
This week the team will participate in the Havre Invitational on Saturday, September 23, 2017. Race times are JV BOYS 11:00 a.m.; JV GIRLS 11:40 a.m.; VARSITY BOYS 12:20 p.m.; and VARSITY GIRLS 1:00 p.m. The course will be at the college.
The Cross Country Team will start homecoming week with the SHELBY INVITATIONAL MEET ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2017. Race times are 4:10 p.m. HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS and 4:50 p.m. HIGH SCHOOL BOYS. The meet will start and finish at the Lake Shel-oole baseball fields.
The SHELBY JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL TEAM had the past weekend off. This week they will travel and participate in the Havre Invitational on Saturday, September 23, 2017. Race times are Junior High Girls 10:00 a.m. and Junior High Boys 10:30 a.m. They will be running in the SHELBY INVITATIONAL MEET on Monday, September 25, 2017. Race times are JUNIOR HIGH GIRLS at 3:30 p.m. and JUNIOR HIGH BOYS at 3:50 p.m.
The team has been running hard in practice and is looking forward to hosting their meet so they can have a big crowd cheering for them to the finish line. Come and show your support.
