The Shelby High School/Junior High School Cross Country Team was supposed to participate in the Kalispell Invitational Meet, but it was canceled due to the smoke. The High School Team did participate in the Malta Invitational Meet.
In the boy's race, there were a total of 55 Varsity runners and 36 JV runners. Tucker Tustian ran in his first cross-country meet and lead the Coyotes to the finish line with a time of 19:30 placing 22nd. Placing 41st, 42nd, 43rd, 44th and 45th were Jonathan Henke, Noah Dean, Jarod Anderson, Scott Whitson and Luke Fretheim with times of 21:48, 21:55, 22:14, 22:25 and 22:32 respectively. Michael Sanchez covered the 5K course in 54th place with a time of 26:49. Joshua Buck did not run.
In the girl's race, there were a total of 45 Varsity runners and 14 JV runners. The Coyotes were led by Carly Parsell placing 19th with a time of 25:00. Hannah Nelson and Jordyn Kruty crossed the finish line in 31:52 and 33:26 placing 40th and 42nd respectively. Kaylee Appley did not run.
There were no middle school races.
Most of the team improved their times from last week. The team needs to continue to run hard in practice, keep their attitudes positive and remember to have fun running.
This Friday (September 15, 2017) the High School Team will travel and participate in the Great Falls Invitational. They will be running at the Anaconda Hills Golf Course. Race times are 3:00 p.m. small school/JV large schools girls' race followed by the small school/JV large schools boy's race at 3:40 p.m. There are no middle school races. Take a road trip and cheer on the Coyotes to the finish line.
