The Shelby High School Cross Country Team traveled to Cut Bank for the Time Trials. It was a hot and breezy day.
Leading the Coyotes to the finish line in the boy's race was Noah Dean placing 79th with a time of 21:30. Jonathan Henke crossed the finish line with a time of 22:55 and placed 126th. Covering the 5K in 136th place was Scott Whitson with a time of 23:51. Luke Fretheim finished in 141st place with a time of 23:56. In 176th place with a time of 29:33 was Michael Sanchez. There was a total of 189 runners in the race. Jarod Anderson, Joshua Buck, and Tucker Tustian did not run.
In the girl's race, the first Coyote to cross the finish line was Carly Parsell placing 71st with a time of 26:19. Hannah Nelson finished the 5K in 116th place with a time of 34:01. Finishing her first 5K in 117th place with a time of 34:49 was Jordyn Kruty. Kaylee Appley started but could not finish the race. There was a total of 123 runners.
The Shelby Junior High Cross Country Team also traveled to Cut Bank. In the boy's race, Ben Aklestad and Clayton Jorota crossed the finish line with times of 15:08 and 15:14 respectively and placing 45th and 46th out of 53 total runners.
In the girl's race, Sage Hobbs crossed the finish line 24th place with a time of 13:48. There was a total of 40 runners.
So now that we know where the times are the team will begin to work harder in practice, they will keep their positive attitudes and continue to have fun.
This week on Friday (September 8, 2017) the team will travel to and participate in the Flathead Invitational at Rebecca Farms outside of Kalispell. Race times are 2:00 PM, JV Girls; 2:45 PM, JV Boys; 3:30 PM, Varsity Girls; 4:15 PM, Varsity Boys; 5:00 PM Middle School Girls; and 5:30 PM Middle School Boys. See you at the races.
